Jetpack Joyride Main Theme[]

The Jetpack Joyride Main Theme (also known as just Main Theme) is the track that plays during the gameplay of Jetpack Joyride and the most recognizable track in the series.

OST version of the track has additional 2 seconds as the outro, whereas the In-Game version lacks them and loops.

Writing process[]

The writing of Jetpack Joyride Main Theme was described as "quite a long and difficult process".[1] Cedar Jones created a total of 12 drafts before the final combination of funky riffs with some jazz elements was decided on. The earliest drafts, most notably one dubbed "Level track 1" (now known as "Serious Joyride") was created to closer resemble the soundtrack created for Age of Zombies and Monster Dash by Jesse Higginson. This style, however, didn't feel right to the developers, and following drafts experimented with the music direction, ranging from metal to jazz to dark style. See Jetpack Joyride/Soundtrack/Other for more information on drafts.

Other appearances[]

  • Star Skater - Used as a theme for Barry Steakfries skin.
  • Jetpack Joyride India Exclusive: Was the only track used in the game.
  • Battle Racing Stars: This theme was remixed as part of the Jetpack Joyride Medley, alongside Home and Headphones Remix.
  • Dan The Man: Used in Legitimate Research levels from the Jetpack Joyride Event.
  • Jetpack Joyride 2: A remix of the track, titled Legitimate Research, was used in the Legitimate Research levels. Additionally, some of the game's other themes use various notes from the original track. A direct rip of the track was used in the Classic Joyride mode.

Headphones Remix (formerly known as DJ Headphones and Dubstep Joyride) is the dubstep remix of the Jetpack Joyride Main Theme. Was originally used in the trailer for Air Barrys gadget, and added in later update as the theme that replaces gameplay theme if DJ Barry head is equipped. This theme was also reused for Strong Arm Machine, where the track starts at 1:40 timestamp.

The OST version also includes extra 8 seconds of the outro, whereas the In-Game version is set to loop.

Writing process[]

Cedar Jones claims that the music direction for this track was easier than "Jetpack Joyride Main Theme", but the writing itself was far more difficult. Cedar wanted to keep many elements of the original track, but also include "a heavy dance influence and harder, edgier dubstep elements."[1]

Other appearances[]

  • Battle Racing Stars: This theme was remixed as part of the Jetpack Joyride Medley, alongside Jetpack Joyride Main Theme and Home.
  • Jetpack Joyride Test Labs: Used as the gameplay theme.
